A Return to Art and Meaning
I'm Marina, a newly reborn artist at the age of 55.
My art journey began when I was seven, tracing illustrations from old children's books and proudly presenting them to my mother as my own creations. Believing in my "talent," she enrolled me in art school. However, my stint there was short-lived. Instead of painting landscapes, my friend and I found joy in splattering paint everywhere—a creative act that led to our swift expulsion. My secret stash of hidden books was discovered soon after, and my artistic aspirations were shelved for the next 45 years.
In 2022, I made my artistic debut with "The Life" trilogy, a series that explores the essence of simplicity and profound meaning. The inspiration for this work came one day when I heard my good friend reading The Little Prince to his daughters. Inspired, I returned to my favorite story and reread it. I cried. Well-known phrases suddenly acquired new meanings. One of the Fox's secrets struck me so deeply that it became the driving force behind one of "The Life" trilogy’s pieces, ’THE UNSEEN’. This moment of realization sparked my passion to reveal the invisible, explore the unknown, and present art differently. I chose the dot as my artistic tool because its simplicity hides the complexity of the ideas it represents, turning each artwork into a canvas for introspection and discovery.
People often say it takes years for an artist to discover their style. In my case, the delay turned out to be a blessing. My style found me, flooding my mind with ideas and concepts that I am now passionately bringing to life.
Through my art, I share my journey, my thoughts, and my heart. Today, at 55, I am embarking on an exciting new chapter, proving that it's never too late to embrace your true calling and that creativity knows no bounds or age limits.
